Because everyone knows the Oregon cohorts are better...

Whatcha been up 2?

I'm still working at Kaiser and OCOM. Loving both jobs, but would really like to have only one job full-time.

In other news, Jeff and I bought a Wii Fit! And we are loving it. I have a long way to go to fit back into my pants that I wore before entering the SLIM program...I still don't know why they call it SLIM (and SLIM fast if you finish early!) ACKKK!

Anywho, whatcha up to OR6 and OR1-5,7-8, as well?

What have I been up to?

Up to my neck with coursework...STILL. I am taking 3 courses this summer with the hopes of finally graduating after the Fall term.

I am STILL at the Martial Arts School but have recently elevated to the General Manager. At least in title. I have been doing the same job for a while now under lesser nomenclatures.

I, too, aspire to fit back into my pants that I wore BEFORE starting school. It doesn't help that my wife bought me a kegerator for our home. I have a keg of Rouge Dead Guy Ale on tap right now. MMmmmmm

If anybody sees a good job opening in their area, keep me in mind. I hope all is well with y'all.

Worked as a paraprofessional YS person till the end of March, started a full-time job as an Adult Services Librarian in Shelton WA April 1. About to commit career suicide... It's all good. :) My parents are moving to Mongolia a week from tomorrow. I now own DDR. Reading lots of GNs, YA lit, and Entertainment Weekly. Spending my breaks on Facebook, Myspace, etc. Missing my OR-6 buds. All that jazz...

As a followup, the deed is done but there happy ending arrived - I applied for a full-time YS position at the Lacey branch of my system (where I worked as a circ asst. for 2.5 years) a mere two months after starting my new full-time adult services job - and I got it! :) HOWEVER, because of a complicated and angsty chain of events, I'm not starting the new position until the beginning of September, so I'm still working (as of now) full-time in Shelton.

Working full time as faculty librarian at PCC. Going nuts with ALA Emerging Leaders stuff--so glad that's almost over. Recently appointed to a 2-year position with an ACRL committee--boy do those people know where to find the free labor or what? :D

@Coach does the new nomenclature come with better money? It oughta...

@Raina oh em gee, are you gonna do it? Really?!

@CaT I finally got about half of my Slim weight off... it can happen, it just takes forever! Also, predictably it will happen just AFTER you buy new work clothes. It's fun when your pants fall off at work...no really.

yep. Talked to my boss, who says she can recommend me for my good-employeeness but not for my loyalty, had heart-to-hearts with peeps in power. gonna tell the interview boss to be "discrete." Ugh. I hate doing the wrong thing. But it feels so right! ;)

Hi to everyone,

I am running between two part-time temp jobs, one in Hillsboro and one in Oregon City. They are both at county law libraries. I basically spend my profits on gas of course.
Our eldest son is getting married this summer at the end of July. Does anyone care to teach my husband and I how to dance? It could be scary you know.

Hi everyone,

I just finished up this term and can now say that I have graduated!

After finishing a youth services practicum at Cedar Mill Library's main branch, I now do a weekly storytime at the Bethany branch where I work part-time as a library assistant. I also work one shift a week at the main branch as an on-call librarian. Summer reading sign-ups started this week and we are crazy busy!

I too am working on fitting into my pre-SLIM pants, but find myself coming up with other projects to do around the house since there are so many of those after three plus years of school!

Hi!

I have been having a hard time finding work here in Seattle :( I just started temping for Seattle Public! I like it so far (ok, it is still my first week). We have over 30 branches so every day is an adventure!

I got my tonsils and adenoids out in January.

I have joined the board of the Friends of the Seattle Public Library and will be in charge of the quarterly electronic news letter.

Right now I am writing this in the Queen Anne Library, a beautiful old Carnegie.

Great to hear all your updates! Raina, what is this disloyal act you are about to do. Email me!

I miss you guys so much!

Congrats, Marianne! You can do it, Coach! :)

I finished in December - woot!! Still working full time as a clerk at the Holgate Branch. My boss, bless her OR-II heart, is sending me to ALA!!! Disneyland, here I come! :) I am also now in charge of the Summer Reading Program at my branch, 20 hours a week. It will be a challenge, and look good on the resume, though it's also bittersweet, as it's due to some misfortune on the part of one of our youth librarians. :(

I'm still keeping an eye out for reference/electronic resources type librarian positions. Ping me if you see anything!

On the personal news side, I have a great new girlfriend! We're moving slow-ish, and it's very solid so far, but still early days. *fingers crossed* I'd like to keep her, if I can. :) Oh, and my daughter has 'graduated' from middle school, and is officially going into high school! OMG!!!! My son is very happy to be a 4th grader, too. How do they grow so fast?

Miss you all like crazy! We should have a get-together. I hear a rumor of one in early stages? I am on Facebook and MySpace far too often - keep me in the loop!

cheers,
Shandra

I'm still at Jefferson County Library and life is good. Interesting stuff: I'm trying to annex a section of the county that isn't in our library district. The process is interesting. Our major computer upgrade went well, and Deschutes County is taking very good care of us.

Looks like I'll be loosing my Youth Services Librarian around November. She's expecting and plans on quitting when the baby is born. So if anyone likes rural life and wants to join me, let me know you're interested.

Does anyone know how to get ahold of Kevin? I need him to come out and do a zine activity for our teens.

the email I have on file for Kevin is nevikmoore at comcast dot net. So far as I know it's current. :)
